World footballing icon David Beckham might be one of the most praised sporting starts in the world, with a vast array of awards and fanatical fans world wide, but that still was not enough to earn him a guest role on the smash hit carton comedy, The Simpson’s.

The English international and his management approached the shows producers asking to be featured in a cameo role for the upcoming season.

Cameos have been the norm in the past decade on the show, with a lit of names including Michael Jackson, Al Gore, and Barry White all making the small screens for a half hour installment.

But according to the heads that matter, Beckham was just not recognizable and well known enough to be used in an episode.

Executive Producer, Al Jean said while he is a legend in his own sport, there would not be enough recognition in the American market t make it a worthwhile decision.

”We get a lot of requests from celebrities, and it’s always a shame when we have to turn people down,” Jean said.

”I had to phone him up and tell him sorry but I didn’t want him on the show right now. I didn’t think he was a big enough star for an American audience. I got a lot of grief about that.”

For those who don’t know, Beckham is signed to a five year contract to US soccer side LA Galaxy for a reported $250 million deal.
