At the ripe old age of 46, Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt is back on the singles market after his shock split with Angelina Jolie over the weekend.

With six children under his wing, the acting star is now a chance to add another wife, and another kid to his growing list of love achievements.

But first things first, and that is to sort out who gets what in the marital aftermath between the two.

Pitt and Jolie are already believed to have enlisted lawyers to negotiate the division of their $US332 million fortune and custody of their children.

But despite the writing on the wall, according to family members, Pitt still believes there is a chance of reconciliation.

A close anonymous family friend had this to say:

“Brad is desperately trying to cling on to the wreckage of the relationship as he is still very much in love with Angelina and believes they can make it work.

“Jane wants what is best for her son and grandchildren and Angie has agreed to meet her. She has stuck at her own marriage and worked with families for 30 years trying to keep them together.”

Brad’s mother Jane has even tried to step into the saga and talk the pair into sorting out their differences.

The 70 year-old is reportedly quite close to Jolie and is upset at the split.

In the meantime, Pitt has reportedly bought himself a million dollar bachelor pad to escape from the media scrutiny, and get his head around his future life.
