Australia’s most notorious gangland identity has died today.

Carl Williams was murdered in his Barwon Prison cell today at around 1.14pm.

It is believed two inmates crept up on the famed drug dealer and murderer during his leisure time at the jails exercise area.

The pair began beating him repeated times to the head.

Ambulance officials rushed to the scene and found Williams in cardiac arrest. They were unable to regain his consciousness.

Question marks are now being asked over the involvement of the prison guard during the time, and hw they managed to allow the incident to get so out of hand.

It is also believed part of an exercise bike was used as a weapon in the attack.

The two men have been taken into police custody, with officials now in the middle of a full scale investigation into the murder.

The event comes on the same day it was publicly revealed that police had spent up to eight thousand dollars to send Williams daughter to a private school.

Fellow underworld figure Mick Gatto was asked about how he felt about the death and responded in bold words.

“I’d rather let dead dogs lie,” he said.

He also reiterated that he was not a friend of Carl’s and that he would not make any further comment on the matter.

People are already beginning to talk about how the death was organized and conspiracies are filtering through the news, but for the time being, the gangland community are coming to grips with the fact one of the most notorious crooks is finally dead.
