Media man and 3AW commentator Rex Hunt has been found guilty of recklessly causing injury to a cyclist after a confrontation in Melbourne last month.

Appearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court, Hunt was found guilty of recklessly causing injury after three other charges were dismissed by the Magistrate.

Hunt spent two hours in the witness box giving evidence and the court heard he pinned cyclist Rodney Andonopoulos to a parked car and broke his finger.

The police interview Hunt gave was played out in the court where he was later found guilty of the charge. But Hunt has pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

He has pleaded not guilty to two charges of recklessly causing serious injury, one of intentionally causing serious injury and one of unlawful assault.

In the police interview played to the court, Hunt said a group of cyclists egged on Mr Andonopoulos during the scuffle.

Under cross-examination, he denied he had invented the group, after prosecutor Senior Constable Mark van Suylen said no witnesses had told of the group.
