Loved American rapper Lil Wayne is set to spend up to a year in jail after turning himself in to serve his 12-month sentence this week.

The notorious rap figure was originally charged with gun possession but the case had been delayed several times for bizarre reasons.

Firstly, he required dental surgery to remove his false set of diamond teeth and replace them with normal teeth. Lil Wayne believed his million-dollar set of chompers could be a reason for trouble inside jail.

Then the case was delayed yet again after a fire occurred in the courthouse last week.

After all the waiting, the rapper was finally sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to the charges.

The New Orleans native will now call Rikers Island his home at least until November, when he could be released after eight months for serving his jail stint with good behavior.

As Lil Wayne stepped out of his vehicle to head into the courtroom a huge riot of paparazzi’s and fans broke out with a massive horde of security guards trying their best to protect the bad boy and his Cash Money Crew.

The music industry seems to be the big loser in the case with one of the world’s best ever rappers out of the game for up to a year.

While many fans were devastated yesterday there was some positives to come out of it. The workaholic rapper managed to film nine music videos to be released during his time in jail.
