Pop queen Whitney Houston’s tour down under has gone from bad to worse with fans in Sydney now losing faith in the fading singing icon.

After a poor perfromance in her opening show in Brisbane, where thousands of fans booed and jeered at the singer during her below-average stage perfromnce, Houston ventured to Sudney to make amends.

For the first 50 minutes things seemed to be going well and the 12,000 strong crowd were singing along and appeared to be having a good time.

However, things all went pear shaped after Houstons 13 minute stage break where she changed costumes and returned to play an accoustic set of her age-old classics.

The lack of musical instruments appeared to show an obvious flaw in her perfomance: her voice!

For the majority of the second half of the show Houston was coughing and straining horribly in an attempt to hold her notes.

After a few accoustic songs, fans had begun jeering again and a large portion of the crowd started to streak out the doors.

One fan, Leigh Haslem said the night was a tale of two halves.

“Some of it’s been beautiful and some it is just horrible,” he said.

“It feels like she’s trying to be herself but it’s not working.”

Another fan, Bernadette Latta, was more blunt when it came to summing up the performance.

“It’s terrible. I have never walked out before a concert finished but that was just terrible,” she said.

“I’ll be suggesting my son tries to get a refund.”

Tickets to her concert began at around the $200 mark. Whitney Houston now takes her concert to Adelaide, before finishing the tour in Melbourne.
