He was used to chasing girls on our small screens, but now the girls will be chasing him.
That’s the news coming out of Australia today, after Firass Dirani was last night named the 2010 Cleo Bachelor of the Year.
For those of you who don’t know, Dirani plays the character of nightclub owner John Ibrahim in the latest series of Underbelly: The Golden Mile.
The crown was also seen as an early birthday present for the newly popular actor, with his 26th birthday being today.
The magazine said Firani typified everything the Cleo looks for in a perfect male and in the male they wanted to represent to the rest of the country.
It wasn’t exactly an ugly field either, Firnai had to edge out a bunch of AFL players, many surfers, TV and radio presents, other actors and high class professionals in their field of work.
More than 250,000 votes were cast, the most in the competition’s history.
Sunrise weatherman James Tobin was in second spot, with Jarod Green, the man behind the online cartoon sensation Beached Az, in third.
Dirani actually tipped celebrity chef Curtis Stone to take out the prize, but was over the moon with his announcement.
“It’s exciting. I’m happy just to be in the top 50, that was good enough for me,” he said.
“The whole thing is fun. It’s good to be part of things like this. It’s fun and games.”
