Ricky Martin has come out of the closet.

The Puerto Rican singer has finally put his sexuality speculation on the line and announced he is gay, and proud of it.

After years of denying the rumours, the pop star confirmed the details on his official website.

The man is well known for releasing some of the greatest Spanish music in our times, with songs like ‘Livin la Vida Loca’ and the 2002 World Cup theme, ‘The Cup of Life’

Ricky Martin has recently fathered two children with a surrogate mother two years ago, said that he had kept his sexuality hidden so far because his advisers had told him coming out could hurt his career.

On his website today he announced he was happy for who he is, and what is today.

“I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am,” he wrote.

“Today, I have accepted my homosexuality as a gift that gives me life.”

The 38 year-old told his fans that his decision to divulge his sexual orientation was an amazing turning point in his life and began a few months ago when he started writing his memoirs.

He says that his decision to put his thoughts onto paper had helped him to decide to make his public decision.

“Things that were too heavy to keep inside,” he said
