The Hey Dad sexual abuse scandal is heating up, after Channel Nine’s A Current Affair program accused a former star on the show as the culprit.

Robert Hughes, who played the dad, Martin Kelly, was named by the news show as the man former child star Sarah Monahan claims abused her since the age of nine.

Things have gotten even worse for Hughes, with two more women coming forward with allegations of abuse at the hands of the former acting star.

The 61 year old now lives in Singapore and is shocked by the claims.

“I am absolutely shocked and surprised at this allegation,” he said.

“I categorically deny the allegation. It never happened. The entire matter is now in the hands of my lawyers.”

The female at the centre of all of this, Monahan, last week told a weekly magazine that she was fondled by a man on set numerous times during production of the show, and that he also exposed himself to her.

She refused to name anyone, but did say there were other victims among the cast.

Now living in the US, she said recently she wanted the offender to burn in hell, and that the effects left her suicidal at a young age.

“I remember at school they actually demanded that I have a psychiatrist,” she said.

“In art class I could draw perfect penises. And they were like, there’s something wrong with this person that she could draw stuff like that at that age.

“I think I was at that point where I was probably suicidal.”
